My friend photographer Ward Callum and I worked hard to get lots of pictures to submit for this article. It was published in the December Issue of 1985. At the time I was studying Mass Media @ Chapel Hill and this was a good score to account for my missing classes for surfing.
Surfer Magazine collected photographs from a variety of other sources as well. It was written by Mickey Bednarek of Wave Riding Vehicles. During this time period the Outer Banks surf scene was very underground and not on the national radar at all. Mickey does a great job of explaining the pros and cons that the exposure would bring. I was fortunate to have them select a photograph of me as well.
