It’s all about generating word of mouth-some mouths are just bigger than others. I have worked in production and sales for Radio, Broadcast Television and Cable TV. All advertising has a purpose and place. You need to have the juice to understand how it all works and relates. Social Media is all about content. Tie your marketing to good content and your message will find its target.
I am now producing book trailersto help authors better identify their books. The premise is simple, we present highlights of the written word in a short inspirational video. This valuable tool lets consumers get an idea of the book without having to read anything.
Lets face it, time is our single largest commodity. Once it is spent you cannot get it back. The emergence of “E-Publishing” has been a renaissance for writers and has leveled the playing field between publishers and authors. As an author/writer you can promote and market your book through social media using a book trailer.
Our time is flooded with impressions and advertisements. Many of us spend time online and are inundated with posts on Facebook, Twitter, Blogs and the like. A book trailercan make you stand out from the clutter.
Once you get someone’s attention with your book trailer you must be sure to direct them to your personal website or blog. This is your turf and it must contain all the information about you, your writing and your publications.
Pay attention to how you post and where you post. Create your own video site on YouTube, Vimeo or on Facebook. Embed the book trailer on your blog or website and then post to social media from your website. That way the source code and digital bread crumbs will lead prospective customers back to your website.
Announcing the upcoming release of author Joanie C. Murray’s debut novel. Once you enter the Secret Cave with Molly McBean you may not want or be able to return. Readers will enjoy unlocking the cave’s many secrets.
I have worked on all angles of the industry from soup to nuts. This includes Sales and Marketing. Good Product Knowledge leads to successful Marketing and increased Sales.
This Ad ran on the back cover of the Wheeling Chamber of Commerce Directory. I loved buying that Ad Space. Anytime you can appear on the cover of an industrial publication you gain instant credibility. Here are some of the TV Commercials that I have appeared in:
My friend photographer Ward Callum and I worked hard to get lots of pictures to submit for this article. It was published in the December Issue of 1985. At the time I was studying Mass Media @ Chapel Hill and this was a good score to account for my missing classes for surfing.
Surfer Magazine collected photographs from a variety of other sources as well. It was written by Mickey Bednarek of Wave Riding Vehicles. During this time period the Outer Banks surf scene was very underground and not on the national radar at all. Mickey does a great job of explaining the pros and cons that the exposure would bring. I was fortunate to have them select a photograph of me as well.
